GIVING SUGGESTIONS

 

Task 1

Read the following sentences.

Underline what someone says to give suggestions.

  1. You should try to learn English everyday.
  2. I think you should go home early.
  3. Why don’t you join an English club?
  4. You’d better wake up early.

Kata should pada tipe ini digunakan untuk memberikan saran atau nasihat kepada seseorang. Should = Sebaiknya/Seharusnya.

How to state rules and obligations

     Must merupakan kata dalam bahasa inggris yang memiliki arti pasti. Must sudah tidak membutuhkan modal auxiliary dalam bahasa inggris.

  • Kata "must" memiliki arti yang sangat kuat (strong). Penggunaan kata "must" ini memiliki makna lebih cenderung pada suatu keharusan yang sudah menjadi kewajiban untuk dilakukan.
  • Penggunaan kata ‘Must’ lebih bersifat personal, jadi bisa dikatakan ketika Anda menggunakan ‘Must’ dalam kalimat, itu artinya Anda memberikan personal feeling dalam kalimat tersebut.
  • Selain itu, kata ‘Must’ juga menunjukkan bahwa sesuatu tersebut benar adanya dan logis.
  • ‘Must’ juga digunakan untuk menunjukkan kewajiban yang begitu kuat. Dengan kata lain, kewajiban tersebut diperlukan menurut orang yang ada di sekitar kita serta diri kita sendiri.
  • Ketika kita mengharuskan seseorang melakukan sesuatu, maka kata dalam bahasa Inggris yang akan kita gunakan adalah kata must.

 

Penggunaan This, That, These, Those

            Penggunaan This That These Those Dalam Bahasa Inggris

       Berfungsi untuk menujukan jumlah objek/kata benda yang di maksud/dibicarakan atau untuk menunjukan jarak yang relative antara pembicara dan kata benda yang di tunjuk.

       This digunakan untuk menunjukan benda tunggal yang jaraknya dekat dengan si pembicara , benda tunggal artinya satu benda, berikut ini contoh kalimatnya

       That kebalikan dari this , jika this berfungsi untuk menunjukan benda tunggal yang berada dekat dari si pembicara maka that berfungsi untuk menunjukan benda tunggal yang jauh dari si pembicara. jadi dalam hal ini benda yang di maksud memiliki jarak yang jauh dari lokasi si pembicara.

       These digunakan untuk objek jamak atau dengan jumlah banyak yang berada dekat dengan si pembicara.
